Midsummer grass field. Evening sun.

This is a video-audio footage from a green midsummer grass field, June-21-2012. I found a good  spot at Amager Fælled which is actually only 3 km from the center of Copenhagen, Denmark. The recording starts at about 9 pm, with the evening sun of one of the longest days in the year. Sunset is 21:57. The late evenings are amazing at this time of the year.

Well, again I was using my usual sound recording setup while taking the video with the Nikon d5100 camera. I find the key for videoing is choosing a good and not too cold white balance (cloudy), and a good fixed exposure with shutter speed of 1/50 sec. Then the rest is a matter of keeping the camera as absolutely steady possible. This is really not easy.

Yeah, i think the recording came out quite nicely. Not much sound, but lots of green grass!!! Hope you enjoy!

  1. I like the setup and recording – same problems with the camera steady that I had, so I bought one of these:-

But somehow I don’t think you’re going to get all that gear on your bike 🙂

    • Thats a nice system! I would like to use one of these! Its interesting how a steady cam can improve the video.
But you are right, my bike packing is already on the limit, and this extra weight is difficult to get around!

  2. […] This is a nature recording from a gray February winter day at Amager fælled (24th Feb. 2013),  just a few kilometers from Copenhagen centre.  This cold, quiet and colorless recording should be seen in contrast to the green and luxuriant scenes, at the exact same location during mid summer, as can be seen in this previous recording from last year. 4. Could I have your permission to use “Midsummer Green Grass Field” as a meditative backdrop for a Christian worship service?
